Nashville Business Journal Names Legility's Alison Watts CFO of the Year for her Leadership in Global Legal Services

The award in the medium private company category recognizes Watts' accomplishments helping Legility navigate 2020

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sept. 29, 2020 – Legility, a leading global legal services provider, today announced that its Chief Financial Officer, Alison Watts, was named CFO of the Year in the medium private company category by the Nashville Business Journal. The award recognizes financial professionals who have demonstrated the highest level of talent and commitment as corporate stewards for their companies over the course of the year.

As the Chief Financial Officer for Legility, it's been exciting to help lead the transformation of Legility from a regional company to a leading global legal services enterprise with a full suite of capabilities.

“As Legility’s CFO, Alison plays a key role in striking the balance between creating a strategic financial framework for the business and managing the execution of tactical operational activities,” said Barry Dark, CEO of Legility. “Her steady approach to operations has helped set the stage to grow the company fourfold in the past three years through a combination of strong organic growth and strategic acquisitions. I personally congratulate Alison on this well-deserved recognition.”

“As the Chief Financial Officer for Legility, it’s been exciting to help lead the transformation of Legility from a regional company to a leading global legal services enterprise with a full suite of capabilities,” said Watts. “Considering the challenges of 2020, I am especially grateful to be part of a team with a culture centered on providing Fabled Service to clients and co-workers alike. I am honored to be recognized alongside an amazing group of successful business leaders.”

“The prestigious CFO Awards are presented annually to financial leaders in Greater Nashville for outstanding performance in their roles as corporate financial stewards,” said Lori Becker, Market President and Publisher, Nashville Business Journal. “The 2020 winners were assessed and selected based on criteria including demonstrated contributions to the company’s growth and/or profitability, tenure and scope of responsibilities, leadership, success in overcoming business challenges, respect and influence within the company, and community involvement. For chief financial officers at companies across the region, the coronavirus pandemic poses the biggest challenge of their careers, and these executives have helped their companies navigate, survive and even thrive.”

Watts brings more than 20 years of experience in financial management and strategy to her role at Legility. As CFO, she is responsible for managing the financial activities of Legility and focuses on business planning, strategy, operations, and compliance. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Belmont University and an MBA with an emphasis in accounting from the University of Tampa.
