The Challenge
An Ohio-based health care provider with 1.5 million customers sought to implement an In-House eDiscovery platform for ongoing preservation, collection, and review of over forty terabytes of email and electronic documents across twelve locations. A consistent influx of legal holds and existing litigation mattters had created the seemingly insurmountable task of managing all of this data in a legally defensible manner. After an exhaustive RFP and twelve months of due diligence on all of the top-tier platforms, Legility was selected to implement an end-to-end solution.
The Solution
The Legility team, consisting of solutions experts and IT professionals, quickly determined that no single software application could address an eDiscovery challenge of this magnitude. Therefore a hybrid solution consisting of appliances was designed and ultimately implemented by the Legility team.
These technologies were entirely focused on data minimization, so the impact on review time and cost for this legal team has been enormous. Where at one time, the legal department could be bogged down with millions of potentially relevant documents to review, the Legility solution has reduced that to hundreds. The time it takes to collect responsive data has been reduced from weeks to days - in some cases, hours.
In addition to designing a best of breed solution for this client, Legility was selected in part because of its long history of supporting the proposed solution from a service provider’s perspective. Unlike most competitors who are merely ‘resellers’ of a variety of software platforms, Legility possesses a unique expertise on a few key platforms that can only come from hands-on, day-to-day working experience. This knowledge base, combined with strong relationships with the software vendors, is vital to the ongoing success of any IT solution as complex as an end-to-end eDiscovery platform.
